Discovery of cosmic phenomenon scientist can’t explain

WA astronomers have discovered a mysterious cosmic phenomenon 15,000 light-years from Earth that science is unable to fully explain, and it took a little luck to do so.

Described in Nature, this is the first time objects like these, called long-term transients (LPTs), have been detected in X-rays. Discoverers expect this to provide information about the sources of similar mysterious signals observed in the sky.
