NBI: Man charged with terrorism over Comelec bomb threat

A man accused of posting threats online to kill government officials and bomb the offices of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has been charged with terrorism, the National Bureau of Investigation announced yesterday.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has commended the prompt action of prosecutors after a man in Cebu was charged with multiple counts of conspiracy to commit atrocities. Gian Carlo Maningo, who was arrested on May 14 in Mandaue City, is facing charges for violation of Section 4 of the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020 and the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
