Osaka Adds an Ivory Train and Gold Bomber Jacket to Her Fashion Ensemble at the French Open
Osaka’s walk-on look mixed sportswear with couture, and she removed the jacket and train before beating Donna Vekic.
On Thursday at Roland Garros, Naomi Osaka debuted a metallic gold bomber jacket and ivory train over her sequined gold dress before her second-round match against Donna Vekic on Court Simonne-Mathieu.
The tennis star previously made headlines on Tuesday by wearing a ceremonial black skirt and sleeveless beaded bodice over the same gold dress, which she said reminded her of the Eiffel Tower at night.
Osaka triumphed 7-6 , 6-4 against Vekic, reaching the third round at Roland Garros for the first time since 2019 after being pushed hard in the opening set.
Aryna Sabalenka praised Osaka for expressing herself, while opponent Laura Siegemund criticized the "fashion show," claiming the elaborate walk-ons potentially violated preparation-time rules.
Osaka is a four-time Grand Slam champion with two Australian Opens and two US Opens; as the 16th seed, she continues her pursuit of a fifth major title.
