Nanaimo RCMP arrest suspect after arson outside another restaurant
Nanaimo RCMP say a 39-year-old man has been arrested following an investigation into arson at a local restaurant. Mounties say that at approximately 4:40 a.m. on Aug. 4, an off-duty officer was walking to work when they spotted a man carrying a knife in an alley near a restaurant in the 100 block of Wallace Street. “The officer was aware of court-imposed conditions prohibiting the man from possessing weapons of any kind,” said RCMP in a release …
It is suspected that two 18-year-old youths from Rehovot arrived at a restaurant in Givatayim with their faces covered, set fire to the front of the restaurant and disappeared. A month of investigation led to their arrest, and items were found in their homes that police claim connect them to the crime scene. The investigation has now concluded and prosecutorial statements have been filed against them in preparation for their trial.
