NAGOYA AND YOKOHAMA, JAPAN, JUN 25 – Two teachers admitted to sharing about 70 indecent photos and videos of young girls in a private chat group of nearly 10 educators, police said.
- Aichi prefectural police arrested two primary school teachers, Yuji Moriyama and Fumiya Kosemura, on 24 June for taking and sharing indecent photos of girls in Nagoya and Yokohama.
- The arrests followed an investigation that started in March 2025 after police discovered the chat group of about 10 schoolteachers sharing voyeuristic images and videos, mostly under fictitious names.
- Moriyama, the group administrator, possessed nearly 70 photos, including upskirt and changing room images of girls under age 13 taken around September 2024 in Aichi, while Kosemura took similar photos in Kanagawa around January 2025.
- The men admitted the charges of violating Japan's law against creating and distributing certain sexual images, which carries up to three years imprisonment and up to 3 million yen fines, according to police statements.
- The case highlights enforcement of Japan's 2023 legal reforms banning upskirting and nonconsensual sexual image capture, addressing voyeurism among educators and broader sex crime issues nationwide.
