Murder probe after boy, 15, stabbed to death on downtown Vancouver street
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, JUL 22 – The stabbing followed a violent altercation and remains under investigation with no arrests, police said, urging witnesses to provide dash-cam footage or information.
- Vancouver Police are investigating the fatal stabbing of a 15-year-old boy from Surrey near Robson Square, following `violent altercation`.
- According to a Vancouver Police Department press release, the victim was stabbed shortly before 11:40 p.m. Saturday near Vancouver Law Courts at Smithe and Hornby streets.
- Investigators from VPD’s Operations Division, Forensic Identification Unit and Major Crime Section are collecting evidence, as a passerby called 911, leading officers to the injured boy on Howe Street, where responders provided emergency first aid but he died early Sunday.
- So far, no arrests have been made, and police are asking anyone with information or dash-cam footage between 11:30 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. on July 19 to call the Vancouver Police Homicide tip line at 604-717-2500.
- With the probe ongoing, Sgt. Steve Addison said investigators have been working non-stop to secure evidence, identify witnesses and find those responsible, and they believe community members with relevant knowledge could help solve the case.
