Traffic on Pune-Mumbai Expressway and Old Highway Suspended After Heavy Rainfall
- Early on Monday, Central Railway suspended train services on the Mumbai-Pune corridor after heavy rainfall triggered multiple landslides in the Karjat-Lonavala Bhor Ghat section, disrupting one of Maharashtra's busiest railway routes.
- Incessant heavy rainfall destabilized the hilly terrain, causing debris to fall onto tracks. Chief Public Relations Officer Swapnil Nila reported landslides near Thakurwadi and between Khandala and Monkey Hill Loop Cabin.
- All three railway lines in the ghat section are affected, forcing officials to cancel or reschedule multiple services including the CSMT-Pune Indrayani Express, Deccan Express, and Pragati Express.
- To assist passengers, Central Railway activated helplines at key stations: CSMT , Thane , Lonavala , and Dadar . Passengers are advised to confirm train status before departing.
