Air India 777 Aircraft Turns Back After Drop in Engine Oil Pressure ...

- On December 22, 2025, Flight AI887 from Delhi to Mumbai returned to Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi shortly after takeoff and all passengers and crew disembarked safely.
- Observing a right-engine oil-pressure anomaly, the flight crew reported low oil pressure during flap retraction and executed an air turn-back per standard operating procedure, DGCA sources said.
- Around 6.30 am, the Boeing 777-300 ER operating AI887 departed and flew for about an hour, carrying around 335 people before returning to Indira Gandhi International Airport.
- Providing immediate assistance, the Delhi ground team arranged alternatives after Air India added, `The aircraft is undergoing the necessary checks. Our ground team at Delhi is providing immediate assistance to the passengers and alternative arrangements have been made to fly them to their destination shortly`.
- A DGCA source said prior record reviews show no abnormal oil consumption, and last week Air India Express cancelled a flight at Gannavaram Airport after a technical snag.
