‘The Resurrection of the Christ’ Set for Two-Part Release Beginning in 2027
Lionsgate has revealed release plans and debuted the first official images for “The Resurrection of the Christ,” the sequel to Mel Gibson’s 2004 film “The Passion of the Christ.” The studio confirmed that the upcoming biblical drama will be released as a two-part theatrical event beginning in 2027.
More than two decades after the premiere of The Passion of Christ, the filmmaker confirmed that the continuation of the story will be divided into two feature films under the title The Resurrection of the Christ. The new films are scheduled to be released worldwide in 2027 and 2028, respectively.
