UAE-Morocco Consortium Sign $14 Billion Worth of Energy Deals
- On Monday, Morocco signed $14 billion worth of energy and water infrastructure agreements with a UAE-Moroccan consortium in Morocco.
- The agreements come as a result of initiatives established during King Mohammed VI's visit to the UAE in 2023, aimed at enhancing cooperation between the two countries in energy and water development projects.
- The agreements include building a 1,400-kilometre, 3,000 MW high-voltage line to transport green electricity from Western Sahara to Casablanca, seawater desalination plants, and a 1,500 MW gas power plant.
- TAQA Morocco stated the investment totals nearly 130 billion dirhams , with projects aimed to strengthen water security and energy independence by 2030.
- The program will generate over 25,000 jobs, support technology transfer, and requires regulatory approvals while seeking both domestic and international financing.
