The trial of Juraj Cintula, the man who attempted to assassinate Robert Fico last May, began at the Specialized Court in Banská Bystrica on Tuesday, July 8. We bring you information about his personality that was revealed on the first day of the trial. The hearing will continue in early August.

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico continues to see the assailant who seriously wounded him last May as an extension of the Slovak opposition's hatred. Fico made the remarks after the first two days of the shooter's trial, again warning against repeating a similar attack. There has been no evidence in court linking the assailant to opposition parties; the assailant had participated in anti-government protests in the past.
