Thousands of Heated Blankets Recalled for Overheating, Burn Risk

About 378,000 units from Bio Ionic, Scotch, and Lifepro were recalled after reports of 32 burn injuries and multiple overheating incidents, the CPSC said.

  • The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a multi-brand recall involving around 357,000 Bio Ionic One-Inch-Long Barrel Curling Irons in the U.S., 3,000 in Canada, and about 7,800 Lifepro Bioremedy Infrared Sauna Blankets.
  • J & D Brush said the recall stems from a barrel defect, with affected Bio Ionic One-Inch-Long Barrel Curling Irons, model LXT-CL-1.0, having date codes 0722–1223, which can snap off and cause burns.
  • Following the CPSC notice, affected laminator owners should unplug units and seek refunds, as Scotch TL909-50 Thermal Laminators may overheat but no injuries are reported.
  • Reports of overheating prompted the CPSC to advise users to stop using Lifepro Bioremedy Infrared Sauna Blankets after 65 reports caused 32 burn injuries, directing consumers to the company website for replacements.
  • Consumers should cut off and return the plug using a prepaid label to receive a free replacement; call Bio Ionic at 877-853-9627 during business hours.
