NEW DELHI, INDIA, JUL 21 – The Monsoon Session includes eight new bills with 285 recommendations on tax reform and addresses national security following Operation Sindoor, India’s retaliatory strike after the Pahalgam terror attack.
- On July 21, 2025, the Monsoon Session of Parliament began in New Delhi with eight Bills and 21 sittings until August 21.
- A 31-member Select Committee chaired by BJP leader Baijayant Panda, appointed by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, adopted its report with 285 recommendations on July 16.
- It recommended removing mandatory return filing for small taxpayers to claim refunds, based on the panel's 566 suggestions.
- The opening day faced disruptions, and Speaker Om Birla adjourned proceedings after barely 20 minutes to restore order.
- Ahead of the sittings, the government allocated 16 hours for debate on Operation Sindoor in the Lok Sabha and nine hours in the Rajya Sabha.
