Pregnant Woman, Unborn Child Dies After Her Hair Is Caught in Go-Kart
The 24-year-old was 15 weeks pregnant, and family members said the couple had just learned they were expecting a baby boy.
On August 31, 24-year-old Baylee Johnson died following a go-kart accident in Sumter County, South Carolina, after her hair caught in a sprocket on Aug 23.
Johnson was 15 weeks pregnant when the accident occurred and had recently learned she and her boyfriend were expecting a baby boy they planned to name Johnny.
A medical assistant at Prisma Health GYN, Johnson was remembered by loved ones as bringing "life" into every room, and she received a personal message from country music star Riley Green after being hospitalized.
Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home hosts a visitation Friday, Sept 4, from 5 to 7 p.m., followed by funeral services Saturday, Sept 5, at Northside Baptist Church with burial in Zoar Community Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the McLeod Guest House through the McLeod Health Foundation at 300 South Dargan Street in Florence, South Carolina.
