Mohamad al Bared guilty of terror offence after designing 'kamikaze' drone for ISIS
Mohamad al Bared, a PhD engineering student, was found guilty of preparing acts of terrorism by developing a drone based on a Tomahawk missile design and sharing technical details with ISIS.
Al Bared made a purpose-built drone capable of carrying explosives or chemicals to be used as a weapon in a war zone and had plans to travel to Africa via Turkey.
West Midlands counter-terrorism police considered Al Bared to be a dangerous individual due to his education and expertise in mechanical and chemical engineering.
