- On Friday the Madras High Court constituted a Special Investigation Team led by IPS officer Asra Garg to probe the September 27 Karur stampede that killed 41 people.
- Permission was for 10,000, but crowds ballooned to between 25,000 and 60,000, straining narrow roads, blocked escape routes, and drinking water and sanitation arrangements.
- FIRs name multiple TVK functionaries on culpable-homicide and related charges, and the Madurai bench dismissed anticipatory bail petitions for N. Anand alias Bussy Anand and C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar on October 3, 2025.
- `Watching the videos is painful`, said Justice N Senthilkumar, condemning TVK leaders for abandoning victims and noting no political meetings will be allowed in non-designated places until SOPs are finalised.
- With the court declining a CBI transfer, Chief Minister MK Stalin criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party fact-finding delegation to Karur as politically motivated.
