Mitsubishi eyes North America production with Nissan amid Trump tariffs

Mitsubishi Motors announced a new electric vehicle collaboration with Foxtron to launch a rebadged EV in Australia in late 2026.
The MoU with Foxtron, a Foxconn and Yulon joint venture, aims to expand Mitsubishi's limited EV lineup which currently only sells kei cars in Japan.
The upcoming Mitsubishi EV will be based on Foxtron's Model B, a 4.3-meter small crossover styled by Pininfarina with a 60kWh battery and over 500km NEDC range.
Mitsubishi Australia CEO Shaun Westcott called this EV launch part of the Momentum 2030 plan, calling Australia the first global market to receive it from launch.
This EV launch will strengthen Mitsubishi’s Australian lineup amid tighter emissions standards and may accelerate broader Alliance cooperation and electrification efforts.
