US Edition'Tragic': CA Missing Hiker Found Dead In Sequoia National Park
SEQUOIA NATIONAL PARK, CALIFORNIA, JUL 15 – Drew Hall, 36, was found deceased after separating from his hiking group in rugged terrain; his death marks the fifth fatality in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks this year.
- A search concluded Sunday when friends and family found Drew Hall’s body below Sawtooth Peak in Sequoia National Park.
- Amid challenging terrain, Drew Hall, 36-year-old hiker, left his group and was reported missing that evening, according to the National Park Service news release.
- Emergency teams have carried out 60 search and rescue operations this year, with five over the weekend and marking the fifth fatality, officials said.
- In their Facebook post Monday, officials wrote `Tragically, his body was found at around 3 p.m. by friends and family who were searching the area on foot`, adding `Safety must always come first`, and `Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the hiker`.
- Since May 25, search efforts for Jomarie Calasanz have continued, with authorities scaling back due to dangerous river conditions, and an analysis ranked the park as the 13th most dangerous for visitors.
