The Wild Are Starting Their Own Broadcast Network
The team will produce about 70 of 84 games and offer them through cable, streaming and some free over-the-air broadcasts.
On Tuesday, the Minnesota Wild announced they will launch their own multimedia network to broadcast games during the 2026-27 season, ending 25 years of partnerships with regional sports cable networks since joining the NHL as an expansion franchise in 2000-01.
FanDuel Sports, which produced Wild broadcasts since acquiring Fox Sports regional networks in 2019, declared bankruptcy in 2023 and ceased operations last spring, prompting the team to take direct control of production and manage investments more effectively.
Games will be available via cable packages, direct-to-consumer streaming and free over-the-air broadcasts, with the Wild broadcasting about 70 of their 84 regular season games while returning announcers Anthony LaPanta, Ryan Carter, Kevin Gorg, Katie Storm and Wes Walz provide coverage.
With ratings that jumped 41% after acquiring Quinn Hughes and drew 1.9 million Stanley Cup Playoffs viewers, the Wild leverage their existing multimedia platform, including the NHL's largest audio network and more than 2.7 million social media followers.
Carolina, Columbus and St. Louis are launching similar networks for 2026-27 with NHL support, and the league indicated more clubs could join before the Wild open their season October 1 at Nashville, when more than last year's four games are anticipated free.
