FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY, TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA, JUL 23 – Florida State hired Gus Malzahn to overhaul an offense that ranked near the bottom nationally, aiming to recover from a last-place finish in the ACC after winning the 2023 title.
- On Wednesday at ACC Media Days, Mike Norvell praised Gus Malzahn, noting he was the offensive coordinator when Auburn won the 2010 national championship, and highlighting his success.
- In December, Gus Malzahn left Central Florida to join Florida State as offensive coordinator, as the team’s offense ranked near the bottom nationally with 270.3 yards and 15.4 points per game.
- Gus Malzahn achieved a 14-0 BCS national championship with Cam Newton, then secured an SEC title, and compiled a 68-36 record at Auburn and 29-24 at UCF.
- Under the new system, Gus Malzahn will call plays and dial up the offense in Tallahassee, setting up the season opener against Alabama.
