Michael van Gerwen put in a blistering display to win the German Darts Grand Prix, where he hit a nine-darter before going on to beat Gian van Veen 8-5 in the final.

Michael van Gerwen has won the German Darts Grand Prix after an all-Dutch final. The three-time world champion was too strong for fellow countryman Gian van Veen at the EuroTour tournament in Munich with 8-5. It is Van Gerwen's first tournament victory since September last year and that caused a lot of emotions for the 35-year-old darts player.

In a high-quality Dutch final, in which Michael van Gerwen only managed to distance himself from Gian van Veen in the final phase, 'Mighty Mike' rose to his feet after the drama of last Thursday during the Premier League in Ahoy.
