Michael Jordan Helps Morehouse College Open New Multimedia Center For Future Storytellers – Because of Them We Can

- On Wednesday, Morehouse College celebrated the grand opening of its new Multimedia Center in Atlanta with support from Michael Jordan and Jordan Brand, providing students a dedicated space to produce professional media content.
- Jordan Brand initially donated $1 million to Morehouse in 2021 to boost Journalism and Sports-related studies, enabling the Historically Black College to launch its journalism major in 2022 and expand curriculum opportunities.
- The facility features professional equipment and offers instruction from industry experts to support "reporters, editors, content creators, and media innovators for global media organizations." Students gain hands-on experience in Digital, Sports, Podcasting Filmmaking Projects, and Creative productions.
- Since the program began, more than 60 students have earned advanced degrees, while nearly 120 alumni have pursued careers in media and Sports. Center Director Professor Emani Saucier oversees the initiative, which produces content for The Maroon Tiger.
- Mikki Harris, chair of the Journalism department at Morehouse, commented the program is grounded in the liberal arts: "When we launched our journalism major in 2022, we envisioned a program grounded in the liberal arts where students engage the why behind storytelling and social impact.
