The Metro Board of Directors voted today to expand a pilot program that implements scanners to detect weapons on public transport passengers. Metro started the pilot program last August at Union Station and at APU/Citrus College station to test the effectiveness of detection systems. One of the systems caused passengers to pass through a set of sensors, while another used closed-circuit video transmissions to detect people carrying weapons.
