Meta Launches Program to Help Train Workers for Data Center Jobs
The no-cost program will train workers for in-demand trades and give graduates a credential and guaranteed jobs, Meta said.
- On Monday, Meta announced America's Workforce Academy, a $115 million initiative providing free skilled trades training with guaranteed jobs for graduates, piloting this year in Louisiana, Ohio, Indiana, and Texas.
- The initiative addresses a critical shortage of AI infrastructure construction workers as Meta invests more than $30 billion in data centers across Louisiana, Indiana, Texas, and Oklahoma.
- Participants receive a daily stipend and lodging with no college debt, plus a guaranteed job offer after completing the four-to-five-week training program. Meta partners with the National Urban League, CBRE, and Associated Builders and Contractors.
- Louisiana Works Secretary Susie Schowen and Louisiana Economic Development Secretary Susan Bourgeois welcomed the Baton Rouge pilot, with Schowen hoping the program serves as a model for other employers and industries.
- Beyond Meta, BlackRock launched a $100 million Future Builders Initiative earlier this year, while Mike Rowe, CEO of the mikeroweWORKS Foundation, said rethinking training is essential to "closing America's skills gap.
