The German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz, on Wednesday, confirmed his commitment to the sixth-generation combat aircraft, Future Combat Air System (FCAS), a joint venture with France and Spain. Nevertheless, he acknowledged that there were ongoing differences between countries on the distribution of roles in the project, in particular because of the demand by French companies to obtain most of the work on the key element of the project.
