In 1966, McClain High School junior Dean Waddell, a member of the school’s swim team, set a record in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.60. That record has stood the test of time for 60 years until Monday, Jan. 20, when MHS senior Ethan Eakins smashed it, clocking in at 1:00:50.
