MasterChef contestant edited out after asking for new series not to be broadcast
UNITED KINGDOM, JUL 31 – Sarah Shafi objected to airing the MasterChef series with sacked hosts following 45 substantiated misconduct complaints against Gregg Wallace, leading to her removal from the broadcast.
- On August 6, 2025, BBC One will air the new MasterChef series after Sarah Shafi was edited out following her objections, despite the show featuring sacked hosts Gregg Wallace and John Torode.
- Following the July 14, 2025, Lewis Silkin report, Banijay said that 45 of 83 allegations against Wallace were substantiated, including unwelcome physical contact, and Torode was sacked over racist remarks.
- Sarah Shafi initially rejected Banijay's offer to edit her out and had a `quite a heated conversation` with a producer, later agreeing once the BBC confirmed the series would air from August 6.
- The BBC and Banijay said they consulted all contributors and found widespread support for broadcasting, despite acknowledging some would disagree.
- Following the hosts' sacking, rumours name Andi Oliver and Matt Tebbutt as replacements, as producers search for new presenters ahead of next week's controversial series release.
