By Walter Sánchez Silva Cardinal Mauro Gambetti, Archpriest of St. Peter's Basilica, presided this morning in the Vatican Basilica the Mass and the rite of blessing of animals such as horses, cows, sheep, rabbits, and cocks, a tradition in the Vatican for the feast of St. Anthony Abbot which the Church celebrates on January 17.
Every January 17th is celebrated the World Day of Blessing to Animals, dedicated to the blessing and protection of animals.
