Asked if the next Pope could be one of the four Portuguese cardinals who will participate in the conclave, Marcelo replied that “as President, I should say yes”.

“[Or] he's a transitional Pope, who happened to John Paul II and then Benedict XVI, or he's such an innovative and rupturous Pope like Francis,” he said.
