Man 'Seriously Injured' After Being Shot by Police
A man in his 30s was left with life-threatening injuries, and no arrests have been made as police search for the shooter.
A man in his 30s was shot multiple times near the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich on Thursday, October 22, with armed police responding to reports of gunshots just after 8pm.
The Royal Artillery Barracks accommodates up to 700 men and originally housed the Royal Artillery from 1776 until 2007; the Ministry of Defence plans closure by 2028 after deeming it surplus.
Metropolitan Police officers were called at 8:09pm and performed first aid until the London Ambulance Service arrived; firearms officers and specialist crime detectives attended the scene.
No arrests have been made and a manhunt has been launched for the shooter, with the victim remaining under police guard at an east London hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, while the Ministry of Defence has been approached for comment.
