Met Investigates Reports of Letter Detailing Claims About Meghan's Father
Scotland Yard is confirming whether a specialist unit passed Meghan a 2018 letter that included allegations of child sexual abuse, officials said.
Scotland Yard is conducting an internal inquiry into whether officers from its Royalty and Specialist Protection Command shared a letter containing "troubling allegations" with Meghan in 2018, though the Met confirmed it is not investigating Thomas Markle Snr.
The inquiry follows claims by the Duchess that she received "disturbing allegations" regarding her father in a 2018 letter, which sources say was sent to the Fixated Threat Assessment Centre.
Philippine authorities are investigating allegations of child sexual abuse images reportedly found at Thomas Markle Snr's former home in the Philippines, with The FBI offering support to the Cebu task force.
On Friday, the Duchess released a statement expressing distress and explaining she kept distance from her father to "not allow him to have contact with our children" to "protect them."
Investigators in the Philippines have secured Thomas Markle Snr's computer for forensic analysis, with Philippines Interior Minister Jonvic Remulla stating results are expected in one week.
