A man who left his starving dog to "suffer for weeks" has been given a suspended prison at York Magistrates' Court.

The District Court in Uherské Hradiště sentenced Martin Tomaštík to two years in prison for abusing a dog, and he is banned from keeping animals for five years. The verdict is not yet final. The man left the animal hungry and without water in an empty apartment for a long time. With his last strength, the dog jumped out of the window of the abandoned apartment, where the neighbors noticed it. It is now in the care of the breeder.
