Man known for racially derogatory livestreams charged with attempted murder after Tennessee shooting
Authorities say the shooting followed a confrontation and left both men hospitalized as investigators work to determine who fired first.
- On Wednesday, social media personality Dalton Eatherly, known online as "Chud the Builder," was involved in a shooting outside the Montgomery County Courthouse in Clarksville, Tennessee, leaving both him and another man wounded.
- The shooting followed an arrest in Nashville days earlier, where Eatherly was charged with disorderly conduct and theft after refusing to pay a $371 bill and shouting racial slurs at restaurant patrons.
- Responding officers from the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and Clarksville Police Department secured the area at 2 Millennium Plaza around 1:20 p.m., with Eatherly taken into custody following the exchange of gunfire.
- Both men were hospitalized in stable condition Wednesday evening, with one transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center via Lifeflight, as the Tennessee District Attorney General's Office investigates whether to file criminal charges.
- Scheduled for a court appearance Wednesday, Eatherly, who identifies as a "free speech patriot" with more than 219,000 followers, is currently being sued by Midland Credit Management Inc. in a civil case.
