- A 42-year-old man from Charlotte, North Carolina, was hospitalized with an apparent gunshot wound and was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was taken to the operating room and is now in ICU.
- According to Lt. Andrew Smith, commander of Atlanta's homicide unit, Grady Memorial Hospital staff were able to bring the victim back in the trauma room before surgery and admittance to the ICU.
- While the circumstances surrounding the shooting are under investigation, authorities stated there was no immediate indication the shooting was related to the NCAA tournament, and at the time of publication, no suspects were in custody, but Michigan State defeated Ole Miss 73-70 and advanced to the Elite Eight.
