Man City to complete Arsenal transfer hijack with deal 'advanced' for young star
Manchester City have made approaches for the 16-year-old as Arsenal back away, with Leicester seeking a fee that could be set by tribunal.
Manchester City are reportedly poised to beat Arsenal to the signing of Leicester City teenage forward Jeremy Monga, with reports indicating City have entered the running and challenged the Gunners' previous lead.
The Gunners had been leading the chase for the 16-year-old who featured in both the Premier League and Championship, but Arsenal withdrew recently after deciding the asking price of between £10million and £15m was too high.
Monga made his Premier League debut for Leicester as a 15-year-old and currently represents England at Under-18 level, while holding the record as the Championship's youngest-ever goalscorer.
Monga's academy scholarship is due to become a professional contract on his 17th birthday, though any signing may require a tribunal to determine a fair price if Leicester and City cannot negotiate a fee.
Manchester City confirmed on Thursday they struck an agreement with Nottingham Forest for Elliot Anderson, with the England international joining the Etihad club on a five-year deal to bolster midfield options.
