Man charged over allegedly assisting Manchester synagogue attacker with reconnaissance of defence facility
Mohammad Bashir faces four terrorism charges related to aiding the synagogue attacker and sharing extremist materials online, police and prosecutors said.
- Mohammad Asim Bashir, 31, was charged with assisting the Manchester synagogue attacker Jihad Al-Shamie with reconnaissance of a UK defence facility and sharing terrorist material online to encourage acts of terrorism.
- The Crown Prosecution Service stated that there was sufficient evidence to charge Bashir with one offence of preparation of terrorist acts and three offences of sharing terrorist publications.
- Jihad Al-Shamie, 35, was shot dead by armed police after stabbing a worshipper who later died, and another man was killed by a police bullet during the incident at the synagogue.
