Man charged after police officer attacked in Exeter

A police sergeant was allegedly assaulted on Bartholomew Terrace, near to the Catacombs area of the city, between midnight and 12.10am. He was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged. Gary Barlow, aged 46 and from Honiton, has been charged with assault by beating and intentional strangulation.
