Man Arrested After Pepper Spray Attack at Heathrow
A 31-year-old man was arrested after 21 people were affected by pepper spray during a suitcase robbery in Heathrow Terminal 3's car park, police said.
- On Sunday, armed Metropolitan Police were called to Heathrow Airport's Terminal 3 multi-storey car park at 8.11am after multiple people were assaulted and sprayed with suspected pepper spray, arresting a 31-year-old man within nine minutes.
- Commander Peter Stevens said the episode involved two women allegedly robbed of their suitcases by a group of four men who sprayed a substance believed to be pepper spray.
- Fire crews were called at 8.14am to support colleagues at Terminal 3, while Heathrow tunnels closure and suspended LUL and Elizabeth Line services disrupted transport and cordoned short-stay car park trapped drivers and bus routes 105, 111, 278, 285.
- Scotland Yard said the episode is not being treated as terrorism and on Monday the force reported two further arrests while appealing for witnesses to call 101 quoting CAD 1803 7 DEC.
- Passengers were warned to allow extra time and check with their airline as Heathrow Airport, Europe's busiest, served over 80 million passengers last year; a three-year-old girl was treated and five people were discharged after hospital visits.
