Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said he had spoken to Russian President Vladimir Putin about the crash of flight MH17, which the Russian military shot down in the skies over the temporarily occupied Donetsk region in 2014.

During the official visit of the Malaysian Prime Minister, the two countries relaunched their historic cooperation in the economic, technological and cultural fields. Kuala Lumpur confirms its line of non-alignment between the global powers. Anwar reported that he raised the issue of flight MH17 shot down in 2014, after the recent decision of a UN body that assigns Russia the responsibility for the incident.
