- On Saturday, a mobile phone belonging to Belgian tourist Celine Cremer was found during a renewed search in the Philosopher Falls area near Waratah.
- Celine Cremer was last seen on June 17, 2023 on a walking trail near Philosopher Falls, her white Honda CRV was found about a week later and the initial search was suspended on July 10, 2023.
- Volunteer Tony Hage spotted a mauve-coloured Samsung phone at the rear of the search line, and searchers quickly verified it as Cremer's by serial number; it was about 60 metres from last recorded coordinates.
- Authorities confirmed the device belongs to Cremer and ordered forensic examination as Tasmania Police and a police search controller coordinate with the private search party while four friends from Belgium join the effort.
- Two and a half years after she vanished, the discovery has renewed interest in the case despite earlier extensive searches and challenging weather, and Tasmania Police will continue to assess new information while staying in contact with Celine Cremer's family in Belgium.
