- Kyushu Electric Power reported no irregularities at its Sendai and Genkai nuclear power stations, and authorities confirmed no damage or injuries were immediately reported after the tremor.
- The tremor occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers below the sea surface in western Kumamoto, positioned about 900 kilometers southwest of Tokyo.
