SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, AUG 5 – The quake was the fifth magnitude 3.0 or greater in 10 days, with shaking felt across multiple Southern California counties, but no injuries or damage reported, USGS said.
- At 4:54 p.m. Tuesday, USGS reported a magnitude 3.5 quake near Rialto, rattling the Inland Empire and surrounding Southern California areas.
- Seismic records show this, with the Rialto–Fontana region averaging 234 earthquakes annually in California and Nevada, and this event was the 5th magnitude 3.0 or greater quake in 10 days.
- According to seismic data, USGS reports the epicenter near Fontana, about 3.8 miles from Rialto, at a depth of about 3.6 miles, with weak to light shaking felt across the Inland Empire, reaching San Clemente and Victorville.
- Despite the shaking, no injuries or property damage have been reported from the Rialto earthquake, according to officials. Residents are advised to stay alert for future seismic activity.
