Macpherson Orders Probe Into Soweto Building Collapse that Killed Three
The Minister has tasked the Council for the Built Environment with a full investigation to identify causes and responsible parties following the collapse that killed three.

- Residents and community representatives say many in Snake Park informal settlement were legally allocated stands with some holding deeds, but local officials say it was declared unsafe and illegal years ago, lacking water and electricity despite toilets and poles.
- Macpherson pledged a thorough investigation to `identify responsible parties, and recommend actions`, while Johannesburg mayor Dada Morero said occupants will be relocated and the Collen Mashawana Foundation will build a safer temporary structure.
- Macpherson has also said earlier this year the incident was preventable and that appeals and ongoing investigative processes with SAPS and NPA remain underway, while the report will not be released publicly to protect these investigations.
