Low-Level Radioactive Waste Transported From Shikoku Electric Power's Ikata Nuclear Power Plant to Aomori (Kyodo News)

On the 26th, Shikoku Electric Power Co. began work to transport by sea low-level radioactive waste from the Ikata Nuclear Power Plant (Ikata-cho, Ehime Prefecture) to Japan Nuclear Fuel Limited's Low-Level Radioactive Waste Burial Center (Rokkasho-mura, Aomori Prefecture). 680 drums, each about 200 liters, will be placed in special containers and transported by ship.
