[Irabu Island = Miyako Island] A great white pelican, which is found in Africa, southeastern Europe, and southwestern Asia, was spotted at a reservoir on Irabu Island in Miyakojima City on the 17th. Several instances of the bird's arrival have been confirmed in Okinawa Prefecture, but according to Kunihiro Nakachi, chairman of the Miyako Bird Society, this is the first time it has been seen in the Miyako Islands.
