Los Angeles Dodgers Star Edwin Diaz Implicated In Illegal Cockfighting Ring In Native Puerto Rico
Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Edwin Diaz has been linked to promotional materials for alleged cockfighting activity in Puerto Rico, according to reports from USA Today and the Los Angeles Times.
Federal law banned cockfighting in all U.S. territories in 2019, but Diaz previously told El Nuevo Dia he has followed the pastime since childhood, saying "It's a pastime I've followed since I was a child."
Events in San Juan used promotional materials featuring Diaz in his Dodgers uniform, and reports also linked horse jockeys Jose Ortiz and Irad Ortiz to the activity.
Diaz has not been charged with any crime, and neither the Dodgers nor Major League Baseball have commented on the reported associations.
