Local church writes new chapter of care for area children

FITCHBURG — Emanuel Lutheran Church collected, blessed, and gave away upwards of 675 brand new books for children in grades K through 8 during its annual Homecoming on Sunday, Sept. 28. The books, gathered over the summer and displayed in bookshelves around the altar, were donated to Up With Books, a Shirley-based nonprofit that provides new books to children in the area in need.
