MERSEYSIDE, ENGLAND, JUL 13 – Liverpool retired Diogo Jota's No. 20 shirt and held tributes including a minute's silence and wreath-laying at Preston North End's friendly, reflecting on his 65 goals for the club.
- For the first time since July 3, Liverpool takes to the pitch at Deepdale on Sunday, Diogo Jota and Andre Silva will be commemorated with a variety of tributes.
- On Thursday, July 3, 2025 a car accident claimed the lives of Jota and Silva, with Andre Silva, a Penafiel footballer, also dying in the accident in the Zamora region of Spain.
- Preston North End laid a wreath, players from both teams wore black armbands, and a minute’s silence was observed before kick-off Sunday.
- With Jota’s chant echoing, Conor Bradley scored shortly after the half-hour mark, replicating Jota’s arm-snapping celebration.
