As Russia and Belarus wrapped up the active phase of their joint Zapad 2025 military exercises, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda said Tuesday the drills unfolded as announced and posed no direct threat to Lithuania.

The Foreign Ministry said that the Russians are preparing to leave Belarus after the Zapad-2025 exercises. The Foreign Ministry spokesman, Georgy Tykhyi, said that the Russian troops who participated in the Zapad-2025 exercises in Belarus are preparing to return to the territory of the Russian Federation. The number of Russian military personnel at the exercises was significantly smaller than in previous years.
Even before the start of the active phase of the Zapad-2025 exercises last week, 19 drones violated Polish airspace and three drones were shot down. This has caused even more concern in the European Union countries bordering Belarus.
