It has been exactly 24 years since the Lithuanian and Latvian national teams met in the 2001 European Basketball Championship playoffs. It was the first official match between these teams after the restoration of independence. 24 years have passed and the brothers from the Baltic countries will face each other again on Saturday in the European Championship playoffs.
Despite the fact that the Lithuanian basketball team had to play not only without one of its best players, Rokas Jokūbaitis, but also in the opponent's hall, whose walls should have given the hosts an advantage, the Lithuanian team defeated the Latvian basketball team with a score of 88:79 in the round of 16 of the European Basketball Championship.
